Saturday 20 July
Thanks to all who organised and attended the fete last Saturday afternoon, and the charity evening on the green afterwards. The evening raised approximately £300 which will be sent to HELP FOR HEROES. Thanks too to the band SOULJAZ who were excellent. Apparently it was the first time they had played on the back of lorry. And don’t forget they will be appearing at the Villager again on Thursday 1 August – see GIGS page for more details.

The Villager quiz team compete each winter in the Sevenoaks District Pub Quiz League. In the 2012/13 season, just finished, the Villager ended the league in mid table. Having won the knockout competition the previous year, the Villager this year lost to eventual winners Olde George, Shoreham. The 2013 / 2014 season will start in September / October, and new players are always welcome – contact John Prance on 07957 181236 or email at email@example.com
Can’t make it to Vegas? The Villager has an all comers Poker evening every Tuesday from 8pm. For just a £5 entry you could win a cash prize and the chance to compete in the area league contest. Results are calculated over a 13 week period and every quarter the top 5 players get the chance to take part in the regional final at a casino.
The Villager has a pool table in the public bar. Two teams compete in the Gravesend league on Wednesdays. New players always needed – contact pub.
The Villager hosts six Petanque teams and competes in the Maidstone League. We have our own pistes adjacent to the pub, and twin with a French side from Fort Mardyck near Dunkirk (FMOC). Each October we visit France for a weekend of competition, and each June the Fort Mardyck teams visit Vigo.

The Villager has hosted live music for over 25 years. With some of the best bands in the area you are guaranteed a lively and entertaining night. Music starts at 9pm – free admission – for full details see GIGS page.
There is a darts board in the public bar available for general use. The pub has a ladies team which play on Thursdays. The darts team won the Gravesend Ladies League in the 2010 season. For details contact Frances on 01732 823282
Sunday evenings from about 8.30pm sees our all comers friendly quiz. Come along with some friends to form a team for a bit of fun and the chance of winning a beer or wine prize. Free entry.

The Villager Golf Society meets several times a year to play local high class courses, such as Kings Hill, Birchwood, Woodlands Manor, Weald of Kent and The Ridge.
